Question 4: Use of vendors.

Many students are already taking advantage of the integrated set of tools provided through Google Apps (email, calendar, instant message among others). Both Google and Microsoft are offering their “groupware” software for college branding. Although the account would end in @brynmawr.edu, it would be a Google or Microsoft account in terms of features, the use of ad placement and the inability to restore the emails should they be lost or other loss of service. Would the out-sourcing of student email be in conflict with what students and their parents expect from a Bryn Mawr education? Or not?
