Web Editing - Configuration Change!

Posted June 5th, 2008 at 9:14 am. Last updated June 6th, 2008 at 3:25 pm.

Note to everyone editing websites accessed via ada.brynmawr.edu:

The “server” name you use to connect to your site needs to be changed from from “ada.brynmawr.edu” to “bascom.brynmawr.edu”. Your password will be your current email/ada password (after June 6th your “web-only” password).

This change is needed whether you edit with Contribute, sftp, ssh, or a different application such as Dreamweaver and regardless of “new” or “old” design. You can make this change effective immediately (and will need to after Friday at 5pm).

The silver lining is that we think this might eliminate the random “loss” of permission to edit a file that happens unpredictably at the moment.

If you want more support on this change, please look for the web document coming soon to http://www.brynmawr.edu/is/isir/ or come to training on Friday, June 6th or June 13th from 9:30-11am. RSVP to Darla Attardi (dattardi@brynmawr.edu).

In case you’re curious, this change is necessary because ada.brynmawr.edu is currently used to connect web editors to the actual webserver bascom.brynmawr.edu. The new “ada” email server will no longer be used for this purpose, hence the need for website editors/administrators to connect directly to bascom.
