FAQ - How do I make an icon on my desktop for the new Communication Center?

Posted June 6th, 2008 at 3:52 pm.

For Windows:

  1. Right-click on your desktop.
  2. Move your mouse over “New” until additional options appear and choose “Shortcut”.
  3. When asked for a location, type “http://webmail.brynmawr.edu” (without the quotes) and click Next.
  4. Type a name for the shortcut — we suggest “Communication Center”.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. Look for this icon on your desktop and double-click to access the Communication Center.

For the Mac:

  1. Open Firefox or Safari and navigate to http://webmail.brynmawr.edu
  2. In your address bar, you will see a small icon to the left of the address (it will look like a Bryn Mawr lantern).  Click this icon and drag it outside the browser window, onto your desktop.
  3. Once the link exists on the Desktop, it can be moved to the righthand side of your dock (nearest the Trash) if you so desire.
