On Friday evening, the Bryn Mawr Communication Center (a.k.a Webmail or Zimbra) underwent its first upgrade since it was installed in June.

If you have logged into the Communication Center, you have probably noticed that it doesn’t look very different.  This upgrade did not change the “look and feel” very much; the purpose of this upgrade was to correct some “bugs” that folks had reported, and also to make some new and improved features available to you.  In the time we have been using the Communication Center, we have received feedback and feature requests from many in the Bryn Mawr community, and have passed it on to the folks at Zimbra.  This upgrade addresses a number of these reported issues, and offers some additional bonuses.

Here are a few highlights from the new version of the Communication Center:

• New:  Calendar AutoPick for Scheduling (found in the left hand navigation under Zimlets)
• Improved:  iPhone/iPod Touch support including syncing multiple calendars and contacts lists (see http://www.brynmawr.edu/is/isir/documents/iPhoneSyncJan09.pdf)
• New:  Ability to allow someone to fully administer a calendar
• Fix: Reaching the login screen is no longer delayed in Firefox 3
• Fix:  HTML emails which previously did not display correctly should now display properly
• Improved/Fix:  Printing emails, especially from Firefox
• Improved:  Additional preferences and options for calendar and email alerts, and meeting manipulation
