There will be an outage on the evening of Saturday, February 6 for the Bryn Mawr Communication Center (Webmail) affecting all email access. We will be installing a new version of the Zimbra software which is expected to address a number of issues reported by community members.
The upgrade will start at approximately 9pm on Saturday the 6th and extend into the evening with the expectation of being fully up and running early Sunday morning. Status updates will be posted here on the IS blog and can also be found in the right-hand column of the main Computing Web page. Please keep in mind that while you may be able to log into the upgraded system before it is announced, testing may still be in process and your session may be interrupted.
A revised new features and changes list will be available on the TECH Bar blog starting Saturday.
Please recall that for the duration of the outage:
- You will be unable to send email or access the Communication Center.
- Newly received emails will not be available until a after the upgrade is complete, and may not arrive immediately as it sometimes takes time for all emails to be delivered.
- Mobile Devices and Mail/Calendar clients will not be able to contact the server during this period.
- You may notice some hesitation on the server immediately after the upgrade as expedited backups complete and queued email is processed.
The following community requests are among those items expected to be addressed:
- Trouble scrolling through mail folders/bouncing to the top of a list of messages while scrolling.
- Periodic spellcheck failures.
- Trouble with large shared address books.
- The sharing pane in preferences now displays all shares correctly.
