Haverford Planned Network Outage; Bi-Co Systems Affected

Beginning this afternoon and continuing into tomorrow, Haverford will be replacing its network core.  Several Bi-College systems will be unavailable for a portion of this time, including:

  • Provisioning or changes to campus accounts via PeopleSoft
  • Use of OneCard GET Funds
  • Some door access
  • Password management
  • Haverford logins in Bryn Mawr labs
  • Tripod authentication
  • Variations music database

On Thursday, August 8 starting at 4:30pm IITS will be changing out a major piece of the network.  The device we’re changing out is our “core” – the device through which all of Haverford’s network traffic passes.  This change will have impact campus-wide.  During the cutover a large number of services will be unavailable for about an hour, and other services will be unavailable through the evening.
We expect interruptions through the evening on all servers with our first priority being restoration of the Haverford website, followed by other websites and servers, printing, access from your desktop or laptop out to the Internet and finally restoration of wireless.  It is possible that some services, including wireless, will be out for part of the day on Friday as well.  We will be working through the night and into Friday to restore all services as quickly as possible.
