Zimbra email and calendar (Communication Center) will be unavailable on Friday, October 25th from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.
This is the second phase of a project to improve the performance of our email and calendaring software by moving all users and data to a new server environment. Future phases will occur throughout the semester and into winter break, though downtime will be minimal.
We will be moving users to the new server on a rolling basis, and expect this work to affect each community member for a few minutes; we will be able to provide more details once the 10/25 work is complete. The project’s final phase will be completed over winter break, requiring another two hour window of downtime while we upgrade to the latest version of Zimbra.
When Zimbra is unavailable:
- You will be unable to send email or access the Communication Center.
- Newly received emails will not be available until after the work is complete, and may not arrive immediately as it sometimes takes time for all emails to be delivered
- Mobile Devices and Mail/Calendar clients will not be able to contact the server during this period
- You may notice some hesitation on the server immediately after the upgrade as queued email is processed
