From 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11th until Monday morning, July 14th file shares will be unavailable. Information Services will be migrating our file storage to new servers during this time. Before 6:00 p.m. on Friday, please be sure to shut down your College computer. If you are taking a laptop home with you, you will need to restart it after returning to campus on Monday.
Starting Monday morning, you will need to access your files from the new locations. No files will be lost provided they have been saved before the beginning of the migration.
If you use a College Windows computer your H: drive should automatically map to its new location. You should no longer see I: or J: drives; all shares previously found in I: or J: will now be found in S:. The organization of the files within your home directory (H:) and within the share folders (previously within I: and J:, now S:) will be intact. If you have desktop shortcuts or Windows favorites to certain folders on your network drives, you will need to recreate them.
If you use a College Mac you will need to make a small manual change; detailed instructions are forthcoming.
If you use the VPN (ingress.brynmawr.edu) and use the “files” links, these will be updated to the new locations.
If you map drives (either from a College or personal computer), including mapping a drive while using the Network Connect utility of the VPN, you will need to know the new drive mapping locations:
- Your home directory will be located at \\home.brynmawr.edu\home\username where username is your College login name.
- Shared directories (previously on \\Acadfile\Academic_Data and \\Adminfile\Administrative_Data) will be found at \\storage.brynmawr.edu\storage.
