Accessing files and Resources from Off-Campus (and more)

Posted September 10, 2008
Welcome back!  We hope the new email system is meeting your needs. We have just implemented the following new service to access files from off campus: A  VPN (Virtual Private Network) for the use of the community when off campus which provides secure access to files stored on our system.  This service is a replacement for Novell’s "NetStorage," and is now available to students and to those who have had their computers (and most importantly the associated networked files) transitioned to the new desktop environment. Web Editing - Configuration Change!

Posted June 5, 2008
Note to everyone editing websites accessed via ada.brynmawr.edu: The "server" name you use to connect to your site needs to be changed from from "ada.brynmawr.edu" to "bascom.brynmawr.edu". Your password will be your current email/ada password (after June 6th your "web-only" password). This change is needed whether you edit with Contribute, sftp, ssh, or a different application such as Dreamweaver and regardless of "new" or "old" design. You can make this change effective immediately (and will need to after Friday at 5pm). The silver lining is that we think this might eliminate the random "loss" of permission to edit a file that ... Coming Soon: New Integrated E-Mail/Calendaring System

Posted February 19, 2008
Information Services recently completed an intensive review of our current e-mail and calendaring (i.e. Meeting Maker) services, partly in response to community requests. In late December we received the approval and support of the senior administration and Board of Trustees of the College to begin a major upgrade to these systems. We are now developing an implementation plan to migrate the community from our current wide range of email and calendar programs to a single integrated email and calendaring service, with full-featured web-based email/calendar, campus address book accessible from anywhere, to-do lists, and collaborative workspaces. The new system will ... Read more»

Planning Goals

Posted May 30, 2007
Information Services has begun a planning process to help determine choices and future directions for core IT services (such as email, calendar, file storage and printing). This process will look at our services holistically and lay a foundation for an environment that better meets the needs of the community.   Why now? Right now the community uses a set of IT tools, many of which will need to be replaced over the next few years. Those replacements are happening at an opportune time given the new generation of technologies that are available. We recognize that technology will continue to change and we ... Read more»
