*You can always find online quick tip sheets at www.brynmawr.edu/is/isir
- Want to send an invite to an event using your calendar? Clicking Save will send your invite to attendees and save the event to your calendar.
- Always use the most recent version of Mozilla Firefox (the preferred browser at Bryn Mawr); you will see more of Zimbra features if your browser is up to date.
- Don’t know someone’s email address? All you need to know is his/her name! The new Global Address Book will do the rest!
*Hint- Be patient let the Global Address Book load before moving to the next name.
- Always remember to right-click! It’s a powerful tool in the new Communications Center
- Do not be afraid to play! Explore the new environment; see where unfamiliar buttons lead you.
- Want to set a vacation message? Now you have the ability to set a start and end date for your vacation message (which is now called “auto-reply”). This is located in your preferences section
- Not seeing new messages? Always remember to Click Get Mail if the number next to “inbox” increases. *example “inbox” (2) is now “inbox” (4)
- Have a full calendar of events going on this month? Do you want someone else to see this calendar? Check out the Calendar Sharing option (similar to Meeting Maker’s proxy system).
- Do you have a folder with emails you would like to share with a colleague, friend, group member, etc.? Now you can share a folder (also known as a mailbox to Eudora users).
* Hint: Right-Clicking on top of folders and calendars leads you to the “share” options.
- Remember to ALWAYS manually log out of you email account. Closing the browser box will not automatically log you out! Stay protected!
-
If you need to share your calendar but have personal appointments you don’t want others to see, you can either mark that event private rather than public or create a new calendar that you do not share particularly for personal events.
- If you get an Invitation to an event and you want to quickly check out your schedule, use one of the new zimlets.
o For example, if you have an email that has the word “today, tomorrow” or the date (ex. “June 13th, 2008” you may notice that those words are highlighted in blue. If you place your mouse over those words, a small list of your scheduled activities will appear. That way, you can check if you’re available before you reply.
- Always remember to indicate whether a meeting is AM or PM before sending an invite. You don’t want to have a meeting accidentally set at 2:40am instead of 2:40pm, for example.
